International Teaching Assistant Orientation
Monday August 11, 2025 from 9am-12pm.
Rowe Center for Undergraduate Education (Rowe), Room 122.
Registration begins April 1, 2025.
The International Teaching Assistant Orientation is highly recommended for newly appointed or prospective international teaching assistants who have not previously taught in the United States. While participation is not mandatory, it is designed to assist international students in their transition to the TA role. Students arriving before the orientation date are encouraged to attend. If you have already attended ITA Orientation in the past, you do not need to attend again.
International TA’s joining UConn after teaching at another U.S. institution should submit written documentation of their prior TA experience to the UCAELI Office. English proficiency may be certified based on this previous teaching experience. Students with prior teaching experience are also welcome to attend the orientation.
International Teaching Assistant Orientation is separate from New TA Orientation facilitated by the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) and The Graduate School.
